Mike McNamee

Mike McNamee is Professor of Ethics at KU Leuven, Belgium, is one of the leadings scholars in the world of sports ethics and integrity.  He was the founding Director of two global postgraduate programmes: the Erasmus Mundus Masters in Sport Ethics and Integrity (MAiSI) and the Marie Sklodowska Curie Doctoral Training Network in Sport Ethics and Integrity (DAiSI).  He is also Director of Leuven’s Interdisciplinary Centre for Ethics, Regulation and Integrity in Sport (iCERIS).   Since 2008 he has held a Professorship in Applied Ethics, at Swansea University, UK.  He has authored/edited over 20 books and 200 published articles. He was Founding Editor of the research journal “Sport, Ethics and Philosophy (2007-17), and Co-Editor of Routledge’s “Sport Ethics” book series (1998-) with over 50 volumes. A former President of the International Association for the Philosophy of Sport, he is Chair of the WADA’s Ethics Expert Group, and also UK Anti-Doping’s Therapeutic Use Exemption Fairness Committee. His latest book (with Marcelo Moriconi) Sport Integrity, Betting and Crime has just been published (Routledge, 2026)
