Jorge Luis Candiotti
Jorge Candiotti, Ph.D. is a Research Biomedical Engineer at the Human Engineering Research Laboratories (HERL), a joint institute of the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System, University of Pittsburgh, and Pittsburgh Medical Center. He earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and his Ph.D. in Health and Rehabilitation Science from the University of Pittsburgh in 2010 and 2017, respectively. His expertise lies in robotic wheelchairs, wheelchair instrumentation, and human-robot interaction. He has dedicated his career to developing assistive mobility devices to enhance the safety and access of Veterans with mobility disabilities when facing challenging environments. His work has led to over 10+ peer-reviewed manuscripts, several conference proceeding publications, 1 filed patent, and 2 pending on assistive technology. He is currently funded by a VA Career Development Award for his research in robotic wheelchairs.
