Pros and cons on the use of data from an athletes’ perspective in individual sport

Allysa Seely is an internationally recognized paratriathlete and advocate for evidence-based approaches to adaptive sport performance, policy, and athlete health. She holds dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology and Psychology and a Master’s in Interdisciplinary Studies (Psychology and Exercise & Wellness) from Arizona State University, and she is currently pursuing a PhD in Exercise Physiology. Her academic training informs her work at the intersection of physiology, psychology, and performance science.

Seely is a five-time World Champion (2015, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2024) and the first woman to win consecutive Paralympic gold medals in paratriathlon at the Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 Games. She also won bronze at the Paris 2024 Paralympics.

Beyond competition, Seely is a strong advocate for para-athletes and adaptive sport, contributing to evidence-based advocacy, policy development, and knowledge translation to advance inclusion, athlete health, and equitable access in sport.
