2020 Excellence in Government Gold Award

Donald E. Koenig, Director of the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System, writes:

Dear Dr. Cooper,

I’m so proud to announce you have won a 2020 Excellence in Government Gold Award in the Outstanding Contribution to Science (Non-Medical) category.

The Pittsburgh Federal Executive Board (FEB) announced the winners during Public Service Recognition Week, May 3-9. What a fitting time to celebrate you as an outstanding public servant--putting service above self. The remarkable work you do every day makes life better for our Veteran patients as well as our fellow VA employees.

After being nominated by colleagues familiar with your work, you were selected out of 131 nominations (588 including team members) from 20 participating federal agencies. The Pittsburgh FEB is comprised of more than 100 federal agencies and over 20,000 federal employees in our region.  Local presentation of your award and certificate will occur soon.

Thank you for your tireless dedication to serving our Veterans and employees.

Sincerely,

Donald E. Koenig
Director, VA Pittsburgh Health System
