Research Study Recruitment

Phase I

You may be eligible to participate in this research study if:

  • You had a spinal cord injury (SCI) at least 1 year ago.
  • You are between the ages of 18 and 65.
  • You use a manual wheelchair for mobility.

This is a multi-site research study, sponsored by the Department of Veterans Affairs, to develop and evaluate an activity monitoring system that measures the physical activity of manual wheelchair users with SCI when participating in different types of daily activities. The monitoring system includes three parts: two worn on the upper arm and wrist and one attached to your wheelchair wheel.

Phase I of this study involves two 4-hour visits to the research lab
(Bakery Square | 6425 Penn Ave, Suite 400 | Pittsburgh PA 15206)
and a 5-day in-home trial. Participants will be compensated for their time.
